Call Me Linked

Head-chains have always been a little obsession of mine, maybe it stems from being a little girl and seeing pictures of my mum on her Indian wedding day wearing a super ornate and stunning gold head-chain with her wedding sari. I love how they've worked their way into peoples wardrobes and have turned into a little add on jewellery piece for laid back summer looks.

I've got a few that I've bought from various places such as Forever 21 and Topshop but I thought I'd make one, and honestly it's one of the easiest jewellery pieces I've made and really inexpensive as I just used some odd bits of broken jewellery. See below for the DIY!
Just measure out from the top of your head in the centre to where you want it to end at the back of your head, and two even pieces at the side. (Where your head chain would be). I used some some yarn as it was easier to measure out the length I would need.

Using a wire cutter, cut your bits of chain to the length of the yarn you measured out.
Using jewellery pliers just use some jump-rings to link them together. These can be found at a craft shop however I got mine from eBay.
And here is the finished piece! It's super easy and you can customise it to make a style of your choice, I decided on a little bit of pearl detail as I thought this would be a bit different to some of the head-chains in the shops! x

Call Me Darling

A couple of weeks back I was off work battling an awful cold. I'm one of those people who can't sit still for very long, so being at home for 3 days I was going pretty insane; I mean how many episodes of Criminal Minds can I actually watch in one day?! I decided to spend my time a bit more creatively and spent a lovely amount of time on my sewing machine.

I have a ridiculous amount of fabric at home and I found this amazing two-tone fabric and knew I had to do something with it. I've been in love with Midi Skirts (obsessed is probably more appropriate) and decided this would be my little project. I opted for a double layer full skirt with pleat detail around the waist band to give the skirt some movement.
(pinning my pleats in the pic above)

When I finally was able to wear the skirt I thought monochromatic florals would add a bit of interest contrasted with little hits of gold hardware on my studded clutch, shoes and belt. x

Call Me Guilty

A little outfit post just before going to my cousins birthday party last weekend. It was so hard trying to find something to wear and  it was the end of a long shopping trip when I saw this exquisitely bright pink floral printed skirt from Topshop, it completely stole my heart and I knew I had to get it for the party. Not only is the print gorgeous, the skirt is structured amazingly and the fabric has beautiful quilted detail. I decided to keep the top basic with a plain black cami and for shoes, I picked out the grey hues in the florals and decided on these amazing stone grey strappy sandals from New Look for a steal at £19.99! (New Look's footwear are absolutely killing it this season) As I kept the feminine feel flowing with a lace clutch I added a tough looking leather jacket, a long black formal coat did work with the outfit but I'm a sucker for leather and studs.

The skirt itself is quite a statement piece and is quite formal in structure and shape and so it's perfect for events. I do think it's quite versatile so I can't wait to style it for a day friendly look! x

Call Me Turn

I went out for dinner with my family and opted for a tonal pastel pink outfit with hits of black. I got this light pink sequinned crop top from Topshop in the sale for a bargain of £15. I love how the boyish boxy shape contrasts with the ultra feminine candy pink sequins. I hope everyone had a marvellous weekend. x

Call Me Limitless

Maybe my favourites for this week are a bit optimistic seeing as apparently we'll be getting snow in London soon. Oh well, hopefully in the near future I can look to get (and wear) some of my own white lace pants; these Givenchy ones are totally to die for and definitely on my wishlist. I thought about basics with a twist to accompany such a statement piece, so I thought of a candy coloured shirt, strappy nude Saint Laurent's and a navy leather jacket Danny Zuko would be jealous of. For a little added femininity don the nails with Barry M Silk Nail Paint and Oasis' gorgeous Limited Edition jewellery.

Call Me Cruel

So with Winter in full swing in London it is a tad bit depressing. Good thing that pastels are super cool (pun intended) for the season, with candy pink being my absolute favourite go-to colour. I've kept the upper part of the outfit tonal hitting baby pinks in all different shades, and for the rest it seems I'm channelling my inner Cruella De Vil with the Dalmatian print skirt and the lion heads on my shoes. The black accents; particularly the shoes and Alexander Wang clutch an edge to the ensemble without losing any of the femininity.

Call Me Laced

Here's a look from a week or so ago, I was trying to channel a bit of festival inspired fashion mixed with my general go-to's for spring and summer; denim and lace. I'm actually wearing a floral embroidered lace top layered over a lace dress, because let's be honest, can you ever have too much lace?

Other things I'll definitely be reaching for is my oversized denim jacket, tan accessories, and any sort of gold jewellery. The more the merrier! x

Call Me Love

About a month or so ago I shared with all of you that I'm getting into jewellery making. I just wanted to share my latest necklace, but mainly the influences behind this particular piece. I love vintage jewellery and by far my favourite pieces are the pearl and gold Chanel designs.

For the piece I made I sourced vintage gold and pearl floral buttons that shared the classic Chanel-esque qualities. Hope you all like it! x

Call Me High

I'm a sucker for anything with skulls and after seeing this necklace I knew it had to be part of my jewellery collection. It sits perfectly over my staple high necked LBD from Forever 21. I hope everyone had a great weekend! x

Call Me Gem

Hi there! This post is something which I've wanted to share with all of you for a while, very long overdue. Now I'm sure many of you may gather I have an extreme love for jewellery and I have a very large collection, but for a while now I've actually started making my own jewellery, so far just a few necklaces and bracelets.

I love unique looking statement pieces and so my favourite things to use are little vintage trinkets, bits of old vintage jewellery mixed with classic gold and silver chains. I've made a little collection so far and I'm in the process of designing and making more. The first piece I'm going to share with you is this battered gold square pendant necklace, I took inspiration from chunky Chanel jewellery from the 80's and 90's. I'll share more of the pieces I've made in future posts. x
And this is how it looks like on! x
