Call Me Linked

Head-chains have always been a little obsession of mine, maybe it stems from being a little girl and seeing pictures of my mum on her Indian wedding day wearing a super ornate and stunning gold head-chain with her wedding sari. I love how they've worked their way into peoples wardrobes and have turned into a little add on jewellery piece for laid back summer looks.

I've got a few that I've bought from various places such as Forever 21 and Topshop but I thought I'd make one, and honestly it's one of the easiest jewellery pieces I've made and really inexpensive as I just used some odd bits of broken jewellery. See below for the DIY!
Just measure out from the top of your head in the centre to where you want it to end at the back of your head, and two even pieces at the side. (Where your head chain would be). I used some some yarn as it was easier to measure out the length I would need.

Using a wire cutter, cut your bits of chain to the length of the yarn you measured out.
Using jewellery pliers just use some jump-rings to link them together. These can be found at a craft shop however I got mine from eBay.
And here is the finished piece! It's super easy and you can customise it to make a style of your choice, I decided on a little bit of pearl detail as I thought this would be a bit different to some of the head-chains in the shops! x

Call Me Heart

I absolutely adore any kind of nail art and rarely ever do much because I don't really have too many hours in the day to sit and purely focus on my nails. I saw this super cute 'Sticky Fingers' nail art kit from Models Own in this pretty floral theme and thought it looked easy enough, and so I wanted to give it a try for some Spring inspired nails.

For easy and fun nail art I really can't recommend these enough. Literally just paint your nails, let them dry and place the stickers (I recommend using tweezers) in whatever sequence you like and a good top coat. For this I used my ultimate favourite Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat and they've lasted for a few days now. The 'Sticky Fingers' kits come in an array of themes and honestly are so easy to use. Anyway I hope all of you are having a wonderful Easter Sunday! x

Call Me Prim

I always have had a huge obsession with sunglasses, the quantity I have is insane and the collection keeps on growing. I don't know what it is about sunglasses, I always feel complete when I throw on my pair (when I am outdoors and there is sunshine of course). I instantly fell in love when I saw the Dolce and Gabbana 3D floral sunglasses on the Autumn/Winter 2012-13 catwalk, but kind of forgotten about them until Prada and Anna Sui did floral embellished specs this Spring/Summer.

Dolce and Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2012-13
Prada Spring/Summer 2013

Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2013

I knew I had to recreate these somehow and I've seen a lot of amazing tutorials online on how to make your own, so this is my interpretation of these insanely amazing sunnies. I Hope you like the two I created.

I used really inexpensive sunglasses from Primark, you have to try them on first to make sure the shape suits and fits your face. The ceramic style flowers are also from Primark, originally they were the decoration on a hair band but with a little force I got them off. I'm sure you could get little flowers from any arts/crafts shop or online. I used a strong nail glue, but any super-glue would do the job. Lastly cover your work surface with some old paper or magazine, you don't want glue getting anywhere it shouldn't be. Next I just started to play around with the shapes and positions of the flowers, then finally I got the glue out and started sticking!

Call Me Jam

I've been getting a bit creative lately which can never be a bad thing. I got inspired by the Felder Felder skinny studded belt below and decided to create my own.
Here's how I did mine:
An old black skinny belt, studs (screwback spikes which I got off ebay), pen and a ruler to mark the positions of the studs accurately.
Here's the finished product! Worn with a Zara top and New Look black maxi skirt. x

Call Me Power

Here's a brief guide to how I do the braid in my hair, in the photo on the previous post 'Call Me Spring' I actually did the braid on my friends hair, so here are photo's on how I do it on my own hair.

First grab a small section starting from one side near your ear and then separate into three to start forming your braid.

When you do, start pulling from the front only into the braid. I do it this way because I find it allows the hair behind it to fall nicely, and its also easier to style the rest of your hair if you wanted to do a chic up-do or pinned to the side like I have.
